Microsoft has begun testing an update to the Xbox app for PC that could cut startup times by up to 60%. The version is available to Xbox Insiders and includes performance and navigation improvements. The gains extend beyond launching the app. The home, store and Game Pass pages could load up to 50% faster, while in-app windows could open up to 65% faster. Results may vary depending on the device, internet connection, system configuration and usage. The update also makes the game library easier to navigate and improves search. New filters and sorting options help users distinguish between installed games, titles available through Game Pass and digital purchases. For players who move between those parts of their collections, the changes could mean less time spent looking for their next game. The friends list and social features now appear in the main navigation window, reducing the number of steps needed to find friends and start online activities. For now, anyone who wants to try the redesigned app must join Xbox Insiders and install the Xbox Insider Hub. Microsoft has not announced when the update will be available to everyone. The company is also preparing a refreshed Xbox web experience, with an improved library tab, better use of screen space and light, dark and high-contrast display options.Information from Critical Hits.
