Konami makes the 1986 Castlevania free on mobile and announces discounts, a demo and news to celebrate the series' 40th anniversary.

Konami has kicked off Castlevania’s 40th-anniversary celebrations by offering the original game for free on the App Store and Google Play. The 1986 title, originally released for the NES, will be available to download at no cost until October 24, 2026.

The first Castlevania introduced Simon Belmont, a vampire hunter who takes on Dracula. The anniversary campaign also includes discounts on several games in the franchise, as the series prepares to welcome Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse.

On the PlayStation Store, Castlevania Anniversary Collection is 80% off until October 7. Dominus Collection is 50% off, while Advance Collection and the Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood bundle are 70% cheaper.

On Steam, the promotion runs from September 24 to October 1. Anniversary Collection is 80% off, Dominus Collection is 50% off and Advance Collection is 70% cheaper. The Lords of Shadow games are also 80% off, including the Ultimate Edition, the digital bundle of Lords of Shadow 2 with the Revelations DLC, and Mirror of Fate HD.

The series’ next mainline entry follows Rose, the daughter of Trevor Belmont from Castlevania 3. In 1499, she travels through Paris and Dracula’s castle wielding the Vampire Killer whip. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will launch for Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 15.

Ahead of the release, a demo will arrive on October 1 for the same platforms. It will allow players to complete the entire first chapter, with progress carrying over to the full version. The game will run at 60 frames per second, except on Switch, where it will run at 30.

The celebration will also include an orchestral concert scheduled for spring 2027 in London, Tokyo and Los Angeles. The soundtrack for Castlevania: Black & Red is already available on major streaming platforms.
