Hogwarts Legacy will get DLSS 5 in November with a new neural rendering model. Nvidia says this version is twice as fast as the previous one and ten times as fast as the version shown when the technology was unveiled. The company will also bring the feature to Where Winds Meet, while NBA 2K27 will receive an update to the latest model. The speed boost is central to the announcement. In earlier demonstrations, DLSS 5’s performance cost raised questions about its use during gameplay. The new figures come from Nvidia; the model’s performance in Hogwarts Legacy has yet to be tested in practice. In comparison images shared by the company, the effect in Hogwarts Legacy appears restrained. Rather than dramatically changing how characters look, DLSS 5 produces subtler differences in lighting and how light passes through surfaces. That does not mean the results will always look the same: developers can adjust the effect’s intensity for each game.Reaction to the comparisons was mixed. In a post on X, NikTek shared an image switching between DLSS 5 on and off and questioned whether such a small visual difference would be worth a potential performance hit. Other users preferred the subtler approach precisely because it preserves the game’s appearance.DLSS 5 uses artificial intelligence to redraw images using geometry and color data provided by the game. In Hogwarts Legacy, the first images suggest the feature aims to preserve the original aesthetic. Nvidia said the update will arrive in November but did not announce an exact date.
