Anticipation for GTA 6 is already driving the console market in the United Kingdom. In the week following the GTA 6: An Extended Look presentation, PS5 sales rose 33%, while Xbox Series X/S console sales increased by 34%, according to market research firm NielsenIQ.

The video also drew impressive viewership figures. Nearly 4 million people watched the presentation on livestreaming platforms, enough to reportedly overload Twitch. Another 31 million watched it directly on Netflix, while 22 million viewed the material on YouTube, excluding reuploads.

The performance comes months ahead of GTA 6’s planned November release. Anticipation for the game has emerged during a difficult period for the console market, hit by rising costs and a prolonged component shortage. PS5 sales in the United Kingdom fell significantly over the summer, while 2025 was Xbox’s worst year in the country.

Ronan Patrick of Newzoo said the PS5 is 67% more expensive than it was at launch after adjusting for inflation. For Xbox consoles, the price has reportedly doubled. The analyst believes GTA 6 and Call of Duty will expand the installed base, but their impact is likely to be smaller than it would be in a lower-price environment.

The momentum was not limited to the platforms set to receive Rockstar’s game. Nintendo Switch 2 sales also rose by roughly a third during the same week, possibly because buyers were trying to get ahead of a potential price increase. The report does not provide absolute sales figures or confirm a date for any possible price adjustment.
