EA Sports FC 27 has received a PEGI 16 rating in Europe because it allows players to buy loot boxes. On the game’s official page, the ratings board says that player card packs contain randomly selected items, so buyers do not know in advance what they will receive. The rating comes as PEGI expands its criteria for assessing risks related to in-game interactions. The new categories cover purchases of content, paid random items, communication features and mechanics that encourage players to keep playing. EA Sports FC 25 and earlier games in the series were rated PEGI 3.For FC 27, PEGI describes several ways to spend money in the game. FC Points can be used to buy items from the store, card packs and the premium season pass. Players can buy as many packs as they like, the board says, but purchases are not required to play. The assessment also highlights that some Ultimate Team items are only available for a limited time. Offers rotate in and out of the store, with no guarantee they will return. PEGI says this could pressure players to buy before items disappear. The season pass has a free version, while FC Points unlock the premium rewards track. PEGI notes that rewards players have not bought or earned may no longer be available at the end of the season. The game also features daily, weekly and seasonal objectives, as well as limited-time events. Taking part is optional, but missing one of these windows could mean losing out on the corresponding reward. The board says parents and guardians can set monthly spending limits through EA Account and family controls.
