The Witcher 3: Remastered will launch on Tuesday, September 29, and CD Projekt Red has revealed when the free update will become available. The content will go live simultaneously on all platforms at 3 a.m. PDT, 6 a.m. EDT and 11 a.m. BST.

On Xbox, the update will be 45 GB. The size will be similar on most other platforms, although CD Projekt Red has not provided specific figures for each version. The company also confirmed that there will be no preloading: the update will only be available at the announced times.

Players who have already unlocked achievements on Xbox will be able to carry them over to the new version. The free upgrade is guaranteed for anyone who purchased The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt digitally on Xbox Series X|S. The physical edition may work the same way, but there is still no definitive confirmation on that point.

The remaster will also support Xbox Play Anywhere after launch. This means owners of the eligible version will receive a free PC copy through the Xbox app at no additional cost.

The Witcher 3: Remastered modernizes the open-world RPG with visual, performance and gameplay improvements. The adventure follows Geralt of Rivia, a hired monster hunter who travels through the war-ravaged Northern Kingdoms in search of Ciri, his adopted daughter. The Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions are also included.

For those who do not yet own the game on Xbox Series X|S, the digital version is available at a 50% discount for £19.99 or US$24.99.
