Armed Fantasia: To the End of the Wilderness has been discontinued by 505 Games and its parent company, publisher Digital Bros. The decision was disclosed in the group's latest financial report, which also cites the cancellation of Directorate: Novitiate and a sequel to free-to-play game Battle Island.According to the document, the projects were shelved after several attempts to revise their gameplay mechanics. Armed Fantasia will not move forward four years after its announcement.The RPG was introduced through a Kickstarter campaign as a spiritual successor to Wild Arms, the Japanese series known for blending fantasy and the Wild West. The team included former Wild Arms developers, and its joint campaign with Penny Blood raised around US$ 2.5 million.Its initial goal was US$ 750,000, which it reached in a single day. 505 Games later took over the project, but Armed Fantasia failed to show the necessary progress before it was cancelled.In a 2022 interview, former Wild Arms designer Akifumi Kaneko said he had pitched Armed Fantasia to Sony several times. The company, however, showed no interest in publishing the game.There has been no update so far on the status of the Kickstarter campaign. Armed Fantasia backers remain without information on the next steps following the halt in development.
