Marvel Rivals: Best heroes to play in Season 1

Just a note, remember that Hero Shooters are based on counter pick, it’s natural and recommended that you change characters during matches. Don't stick to a single hero just because they're in this list, they can do badly depending on the map or enemy formation.

Thor

The tank class is the most balanced so far, it was difficult to decide which heroes deserved to be on the list, but Thor caught our attention because he received consistent buffs. In addition to being part of Team-Up Abilities with some heroines present here, the fact that he combines well with other characters in the meta is decisive for his prominence, as most of the vanguards are well-balanced.

Hulk

Hulk is another tank who deserves to be here because of the current meta, of course, he’s already strong on his own, but his mention comes because Bruce Banner is a great counter to the strongest heroes. Most of the duelists who will be highlighted today fly, and Hulk's jump is capable of taking them down. Furthermore, several characters have Ultimates that cause insta kill to your team, and your area shield will be essential to save your allies.

All these positive characteristics make Hulk one of the main bans in ranked from Diamond onwards, so I reiterate, don't focus on mastering just one character.

Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange was by far the best vanguard of Season 0, and despite the nerfs that came in the last update, today he is just as strong as the others. You can control the expenditure and recovery of your shield freely, this makes him much more flexible than other tanks.

Another interesting fact is that Doctor Strange is one of the most played characters in the entire game, popular characters tend to have a lower win rate as he is often used by beginners. But not even that was able to leave Doctor Strange below other vanguards.

Storm

After receiving numerous buffs, Storm is possibly the strongest and most impactful hero of Season 1 so far. We comment more on her changes in our analysis, but in short, Storm received increased damage in more than one skill, as well as a larger and longer-lasting shield when activating her Ultimate.

All of this made her more popular and successful in Marvel Rivals, especially in the lower ranks, where teams generally position themselves closer together, opening up important windows for you to use the Ultimate.

Iron Man

There aren't many secrets as to why Iron Man is present in the current meta. He’s a strong and simple character who offers countless ways to delete the enemy team, in addition to offering enormous mobility with flying, living up to his DPS class.

Hela

Hela suffered some nerfs with the arrival of the first season, but I still treat her as one of the strongest. There is certainly a debate about who is the third-best duelist today, you could also opt for Star-Lord, Psylocke or Magik.

What made me choose Hela is the fact that her cure for Thor, another strong meta character, is still strong. In addition to having less difficulty compared to the three duelists we mentioned in the previous paragraphs, her biggest difficulty is understanding the time and place to use her Ultimate.

Invisible Woman

The newly arrived Invisible Woman is already one of the main strategists of the season, her ultimate ability is an excellent way to deal with those bursts of damage from opposing duelists. Escape tools, including invisibility, make Sue almost immortal in certain scenarios, not to mention the heroine's enormous healing and damage capacity.

Mantis

Mantis was already considered one of the main supports during Season 0, and the few nerfs she suffered weren’t enough to knock her from the top, we still see her as the best strategist today.

This is because her kit is very complete, covering healing, movement, damage and group control. She’s also a very easy-to-control heroine.

Luna Snow

Luna Snow is here for the same reason as Doctor Strange, she was another strong character who received small adjustments and is now more on par with other strategists. However, Luna Snow is very popular and maintains an interesting win average even when used by beginners or players who haven’t mastered her.

It’s also worth mentioning that currently she’s not one of the focuses in ranked bans, which occur from diamond onwards, making her a viable option even for the high level.

There are characters like Storm and Mantis who predominate in their classes, in addition to the resounding launch of the Invisible Woman, but this occurring in the meta of a game with more than 30 heroes is relatively common. I believe that Marvel Rivals is not at the peak of its balance, but it was much better than we imagined when we saw the changes announced.
