The 22nd kicked off another Overwatch 2 season. Marked by a 3rd person game mode, a new heroine and changes to the rules of competitive matches, season 16 of the Hero Shooter may be one of the most popular in a long time. You can read more about these and other new features in our full update overview.
In this article, the focus will be on analyzing the new Battle Pass trail, with exclusive free and premium rewards and seeing if it’s worth buying the paid version. Check it out!
How the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Works

To be straightforward, Overwatch 2 has maintained the standard Battle Pass style for several seasons, basically the focus is on increasing your XP to reach new levels and receive the respective rewards.
Each level requires 10 thousand XP to be achieved.
How to level up the Battle Pass
You progress along the track by playing matches and, most importantly, completing daily and weekly missions. Every day a list of tasks will appear, the first three of which will grant you 3,000 XP.

Weekly challenges offer their own rewards, usually 5,000 XP or 150 Credits - a resource used to buy some skins in the store. When you complete three, you’ll have a 20,000 XP bonus, the best way to progress in the pass.

Some seasonal events also bring quests that grant XP. We're introduced to them on holidays, when a new game mode launches, or when a partnership adds new cosmetics from other universes to Hero Shooter.
With the arrival of Stadium, Blizzard has made an event available that’ll last the entire season - over two months. Play matches in this mode to ensure greater progress on the track.

All Season 16 Battle Pass Rewards
This Battle Pass follows the same standard as the previous ones and features 80 reward levels, 28 of which offer free items. After that, a small prestige track will be unlocked for free, allowing us to get 8 exclusive player titles. However, to get to the last one, you’ll need to reach level 200.

We’ll highlight some of the items granted and, at the end, we’ll make available a video showcasing all the prizes so you can draw your own conclusions.
Free Items
The free version of the track guarantees the following rewards: 2 Player Icons, 2 Victory Poses, 3 Sprays, 5 Voice Lines, 1 Highlight Intro, 1 Legendary Loot Box, 1 Weapon Charm, 2 Epic Skins, 1 Emote, 1 Name Card, 1 Souvenir, 600 Overwatch Coins and 1500 Credits, in addition to the 8 titles present in the prestige sector.
For a large part of the community, hero skins are the most sought-after rewards, so we'll start with those. Hero of Heart, for Tracer, is the first free skin to be unlocked, upon reaching level 40. Another skin belonging to Moira, Hollow Heart, is the reward for level 70.

Despite being epic skins and not bringing huge changes to gameplay or skill animations, the fits are great, especially when compared to others of the same rarity. Hero of Heart Tracer lives up to the “Dokiwatch” theme, and Hollow Heart Moira has incredible accessories.

Fans of this “cuter” style of cosmetics will love the other free rewards. The “Doki Bow” icon and charm, the “Doki Wings” spray, and Juno’s “Joyful” victory pose are just a few examples of the prizes that match perfectly the theme.

“Demon Drummer”, “Rockin’ Friends” and the “Demonmari” souvenir will be part of the collection for those who prefer a more Heavy Metal feel.

The voice lines and animations are also interesting, but we'll leave them for the end since they have to be shown as videos.
Premium Items
In addition to all the items already mentioned, the Premium version adds more Credits, Legendary Loot Boxes and cosmetics, including five legendary and one epic skin. Another difference is that it gives the player 80 Mythic Prisms, a currency used to buy weapons and Mythic Skins.
Each season has its own Mythic Skin, and this time the one who got it is Juno, with the Heart of Hope outfit. This skin is another one from the Dokiwatch collection that aims to bring cuteness and charm to the heroines. It was a great addition, especially for those who love the theme.

The cosmetic costs 50 Prisms to unlock, plus 10 for each level up, for a total of 80 if you want to make it the highest quality. As you upgrade your skin, new chromas and accessories are unlocked for you to customize it however you like. You can also save Prisms to purchase mythic weapon skins or skins from future seasons.

Due to their rarity, the skills get new animation effects. Check it out:
The legendary skins you can get on the track itself are the following: Demon Rocker Lifeweaver, Heart of Strength Brigitte, Royal Swordsman Genji, Demon Rocker Mauga and Demon Rocker Ashe. They are unlocked, respectively, at levels 1, 20, 30, 60 and 80.

These are great skins, the idea of showing Genji as more of a “good guy” was excellent. Heart of Strength Brigitte does justice to a legendary skin, it’s a lot more eye-catching than the epic look for Tracer.
Finally, the more demonic skins in this pass were also a success. They break the repetition of cute cosmetics from Dokiwatch, and the heroes really express this evil air in their costumes. Another positive point is that they avoided obvious characters for this style, such as Moira, and explored new ideas.
The Epic Skin in the paid version is Masked Rose, for Venture. It’s average, nothing spectacular, but for this rarity it’s “ok”.

You can check out all the rewards in the video below. Keep on reading the article after that to learn about other versions of the Battle Pass, as well as our conclusion on whether it's worth buying!
Ultimate Battle Pass

When deciding to upgrade your Battle Pass, you’ll have more than one option. You can buy the Premium version for 1,000 coins or add a 20-tier advancement, costing 2,200 coins, and finally the Ultimate version costing USD 39.99. It stands out for granting the Premium and its 20 advancement tiers, in addition to 2,000 Overwatch Coins and two skins: Heart of Courage, for Freja, and Demon Rocker, for Illari.

Blizzard has always stood out when it comes to skins, doing work that the community considers wonderful. Even so, this season's skins managed to go beyond the average, Heart of Courage Freja is completely incredible. Fans of this style will be very satisfied, especially since it's Freja, a new character with very few skin options so far.
Illari's version of the Demon Rocker theme is also excellent, with great details that deserve your attention.
The coins also add a lot to the package, and can be used in the future for other skins or new Battle Passes.
Is it worth buying the Season 16 Battle Pass?
It's not an absurd to say that this track surpassed the previous Season's, which was already considered good. From the free skins to the ones given in the Ultimate version, they’re all pleasing to the fans. It's true that 39.99 dollars may be too much for many. I only recommend it to those who can really afford to buy without compromising themselves financially.

The Premium version itself offers great skins for just 1,000 coins. If you like something more demonic or cute and play with the heroes who received the cosmetics, you’ll definitely be happy with the purchase.
Of course, you should make the final decision on your own, but I hope this article has helped you! I’m available in the comments for questions or suggestions.
