The Universe of the renowned MOBA League of Legends, Runeterra, is so full of rich details in its worldbuilding that many fans barely know it deeply, for not being something that is usually connected with what happens in the game. Riot knew that pretty well and didn’t think twice about filling up Arcane, hit series released by Netflix in 2021, with amazing stories for their fans to get to know even more about some of their most cherished characters.
What also happened was the huge success of the series that not only had fans falling in love with it, but also reached many demographics that didn’t even know it was related to League of Legends. What followed shortly after the big hit was the crafting of theories, ideas, and the anxiety to get to know where its narrative is going for.

Here, we’ll remember a few of the characters that were already featured in the first season and should come back, and we’re also going to try to make some predictions about which new characters got good chances of showing their faces in the sequel.
Please understand that, from now on, this article can potentially have a few Spoilers, in case you haven’t yet watched the first season of the show.
Recapping Arcane
During the first season, we watched two different time periods, separated by a time skip between the three first episodes and the following six ones. The story focused on the main characters Jinx and Vi, while its rich narrative full of character depth also brought us Jayce, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Viktor and Caitlyn to the spotlights.
The plot involved the production of Hextec Crystals and the new Hextec technology, something that had revolutionized the tech industry around the rich city of Piltover while also increased even more the social inequalities with its neighbor counterpart, Zaun, where another type of technology was being developed in the form of Chemtech. Such chemical-based technology was also essential due to the Shimmer, a drug that causes dependency on many Zaunites.
We watched the reunion of the two sisters separated since childhood, a lot of action, romantic interests and many characters original to the series, such as Silco, Mel Medarda and her mother, Ambessa Medarda, who was also confirmed to soon become a new playable Champion in League of Legends.
After a lot of political and social ploys and an impeccable plot, the first season ends with a missile being shot by Jinx at the top of the Piltover Council tower. We know that the most important characters that were there like Mel or Jayce are likely to have survived, but we’ll look a little deeper into the possible new faces that can come around next season.
Piltover, Zaun and Noxus
Piltover and Zaun were always the two cities used as a focus for Arcane’s narrative, and this is very likely to continue. However, the negotiations with Noxians done by Ambessa Medarda with Piltover’s Council opens a big chance for the Steel Empire to have a little more of the spotlights, maybe even hinting a little towards the famous invasion of Ionia eventually.
Let’s take a look into which Piltovans, Zaunites and Noxians might show up during the second season of the show.
Singed
Despite being featured for a good part of the first season, his backstory was slightly put aside to act as a supporting character for Viktor, who had a more influential role during the arc. The official teaser for the second season, on the other hand, reveals Singed as its main piece, showing that we must see much more of him in the sequel, besides leaving hints and Easter eggs about other two potential characters.

Warwick
If you’re not deeply familiar with Runeterra’s Universe, this is going to sound weird: Warwick was already there in the first season, but with an entirely different name and face. Already revealed in Singed’s lab during the aforementioned teaser, League player’s favorite werewolf will have some important role during the second part of the show, we just don’t know what will this be yet.
Orianna
Another old League of Legends character, Orianna is a girl who had to have all of her body switched to robotic parts in an attempt to survive a degenerative illness, ending up having to implant even new mechanical lungs and heart, fully becoming a robot. Her silhouette is seen inside Singed’s locket during the teaser, revealing that maybe his real identity is, in fact, the well-known scientist Corin Reveck, Orianna’s father, or at least that there will be a connection in between the two of them.
Camille
The Ferros guild and family from which Camille is a part of are not only influential on politics and technology, but is one of the main responsible teams for the harvest of hextec crystals from the wild. As Arcane’s plot development goes even further around such revolutionary technology, and the Ferros family’s name was even mentioned during the first season, there are high chances that she is appearing in the next one.
Darius
If the plot keeps revolving even more around Noxus and its plans for invading Ionia, it is possible that we even get a cameo from the former emperor, Boram Darkwill. The invasion in question ends with few lands conquered and the dictator being executed by Darius, who was already a high commander of the Noxian army, becoming one of the 3 new leaders of the Trifarix. In the case that Arcane 2 happens after this invasion, there is even the possibility of two of those leaders taking a part on it, the second one being Jericho Swain.
Urgot
Since the wonderful scene released in the 2019 cinematic Awaken that shows Vi and Caitlyn fighting Urgot while he tries to escape from his prison, fans are craving it to be in Arcane. With the plot about the troublesome relations between the two neighboring cities being so much more explored, there is a chance that this happens!
Blitzcrank
Viktor’s creation, the most famous yellow robot in League has good chances of showing his face in the show, especially after the first season’s ending when the scientist revealed his interest in working directly with Singed.

Dr. Mundo
With the advancements of Chemtech and Shimmer and Zaun becoming a toxic capital dominated by the Chem Barons, it should be likely that we have at least mentions of the young Edmundo, an aspiring scientist who uses his own pain and body as experiments to become a monster that borders irrationality.
Renata Glasc
Once again, the chemical advancements should certainly bring to the viewers some of the most famous faces among its Barons, including the owner of Glasc Industries, Renata. Her influence in the city is big enough to have at least some mention, depending on the period in time that the season happens in.
Twitch
During one of the first scenes showing the potential cruelty surrounding the experiments on Shimmer, many viewers expected that tiny rat to become Twitch, besides many theories about him having appeared in other shapes and moments, but nothing confirmed or that isn’t just a product of public speculation. With a sequel, though, he might have some space in the spotlights to indulge his fans.
What else can we expect?
The anxiety and expectations are making us crave for the release of the second season more and more, and with it the answers to the thousands of questions that we still have about not only who will be there, but what is going to actually happen in this immersive plot line.
We know that Piltover and Zaun’s relations will be shaken, about the Hextec advancements, the Chemtech and the Shimmer, and even about the brilliant and evil minds behind so many twists. Getting to know where all of this is going to, though, will certainly be better when we watch it live.
We’ll wait each second for the second part of the show to be even better than the first, and hope that we don’t lack content to watch, re-watch, discuss and theorize about. Do you have any theory or guess about who might be there in Arcane 2 that we might have forgotten? Tell us in the comments!
