Tejo's Skills

Stealth Drone

You launch and start controlling a stealth drone, but it’s incapable of flying like Sova's. When activating the ability again, the drone reveals and causes area suppression.

This is generally your first skill to be used in the round, whether defense or attack, as it’s the best way to detect enemy presence, in addition to the suppression being extremely useful for blocking the skills they use at the entrance to the bomb.

Special Delivery

Throws a grenade that sticks to the first surface, if used with the left button, or bounces, if used with the right button. It causes concussion in the nearby region. Be careful, this effect also affects your team, including you. It’s important to use it when you need to open a pixel where there’s probably an enemy, the concussion will give you a huge advantage in the confrontation.

See in the video below how the mechanics of being able to choose between the left or right button to activate the skill directly affects where it will hit.

Guided Salvo

When clicking on the skill, a map will open, similar to Clove and Brimstone's smokes. This way, you can choose two locations to launch the blasts, they’re basically three explosions that cause high damage.

It's a great opportunity to force opponents located within a specific pixel to retreat without you exposing yourself.

An extra tip is to save this ability to rounds where a Killjoy, for example, has their Ultimate available. Its missiles are capable of destroying this sentinel's device, with no chance for enemies to defend them, as this ability cannot be canceled.

Armageddon

Finally, his Ultimate is Armageddon, which works very similarly to Breach’s. Here, Tejo marks a large area, a little thinner compared to the other initiator's Ultimate, which gradually damages all agents present there, including allies.

To be used, it requires a total of 8 Ultimate points.

It’s capable of eliminating a player with full health and shields, making it great for forcing enemies to move, either to open the bomb and make it difficult to disarm, if you are playing on offense, or to inhibit an enemy advance, if you are on defense.

The last two skills live up to the phrase released in its trailer, “Move or Die”, Tejo is extremely effective in disrupting the opponent's positioning.

Play Style

As a traditional initiator, Tejo seeks to detect the location of enemies in the region they’re going to enter and pressure them before their team even enters the bomb. These are functions that Stealth Drone and Guided Salvo or Armageddon perform, respectively, with mastery.

Its biggest peculiarity is that it’s more efficient in closed maps, such as Bind and Split, because in these scenarios opponents will have fewer windows of opportunity to escape Guided Salvo and Armageddon, and even if they do, you most likely already know where they escaped. Fracture is more challenging for this initiator, as open maps focus on free combat, Tejo doesn’t have any mobility or tools to deal with this type of situation.

Tejo works well with

Tejo works well with agents who cause crowd control at long ranges, like Breach. Enemies stunned by Breach’s E or by his Ultimate are easy targets for our damaging abilities. Cypher is also an option, although his wires are the only crowd control option, they work globally.

Heroes with AoE abilities are another viable option to join Tejo, such as Brimstone. Using your salvos at the same time as Brimstone throws the incendiary grenade to wherever the opponent is fleeing will make the threatening area for the opponent even larger, possibly eliminating them easily.

How to counter Tejo

Heroes with a lot of mobility or vulnerability are effective against the Colombian, as they can escape unscathed from his abilities, including the Ultimate, while at the same time being able to reposition themselves easily.

An Omen, for example, uses his teleportation to avoid Armageddon's damage, Reyna with her E will also be successful on this occasion. Some other agents, like Neon or Jett, may suffer a little from his Ultimate, but it's not as lethal as it is with most agents, as they escape quickly.

Wrapping Up

Tejo is really fun and, even though he has a similar kit to Breach, it has its peculiarity, since the drone and damage skills are capable of eliminating an enemy without even exposing himself, unlike the other initiator which, even though he stuns the targets, he still needs to appear to finish them. Thus, Tejo naturally plays more retreated.

Furthermore, the Colombian is full of style and has a strong personality, adding a lot to the Valorant cast.
