Rockstar Games has announced that preloading for Grand Theft Auto 6 begins on November 10. Anyone who has bought or plans to buy the digital version can check their console storage now: the company says the download will require 212 GB of free space.

The start time depends on the platform. On PlayStation 5, preloading will become available at midnight in each player's local time zone. On Xbox Series X/S, it will begin at midnight Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Xbox owners in other regions will therefore need to account for the time difference; there is no single local start time for everyone.

Rockstar has also posted instructions for both platforms on its support site. On PS5, players need to find GTA 6 in the PlayStation Store and preorder it to proceed with the download. The process on Xbox Series X/S is similar: find the game in the digital store and preorder it.

The storage requirement is worth checking before preloading begins. With 212 GB of free space needed, players who keep several games installed at once may have to clear room to start the preload. That figure refers to the space needed to download GTA 6, not when the game will be playable.

For now, Rockstar's preload details cover the November 10 date, the start times for each platform, the required free space and the steps to follow in the digital stores.
