Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will let players select Hard Mode from the start of the campaign. The decision marks a change from Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, which only unlocked the option after players completed the story and watched the end credits. The information was revealed by Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. According to him, Hard Mode will not work exactly as it did in the previous chapters, as the team redesigned the high-difficulty experience to suit the game’s new format. One reason for the change is Gaia’s structure. The world is expected to open up early in the adventure, allowing Cloud and his companions to fly to extremely difficult encounters as soon as they gain access to the airship. As a result, players may come across battles far above their expected level before the party is ready to face them.Hamaguchi explained that players looking for intense challenges will be able to choose that experience on their first playthrough. The plan also takes into account the amount of content available after the main campaign. Rather than concentrating the challenges in Hard Mode, which was unlocked after completing the game, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will offer a variety of activities and challenges during the post-game period. The director also confirmed that Dynamic Mode will be available at launch, following the approach used in Rebirth. The option will keep battles challenging throughout the adventure. The game is also expected to offer difficulty settings for its minigames.Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is described as a project that could take around 100 hours to complete in full. The game will launch on 8 April 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.
