Temtem is a massively multiplayer creature-collection role-playing game developed by the Madrid-based independent studio Crema and published by Humble Games. It entered Steam Early Access on January 21, 2020, before its full 1.0 release arrived on September 6, 2022, worldwide. Its setting, the Airborne Archipelago, consists of islands floating above clouds, where tamers travel using airships and pursue competitive battles. The campaign starts after player's graduation from a Temtem academy, followed by travel across Deniz and clashes with Clan Belsoto. Clan Belsoto is the story's villainous organization, seeking power over Temtem and creating trouble across the archipelago's distinct societies repeatedly. Full release included six principal exploration islands: Deniz, Omninesia, Tucma, Kisiwa, Cipanku, and Arbury, each with towns, routes, and Dojos. Dojos are Temtem's equivalent of major challenge venues, led by specialist Tamers whose victories earn players badges and advancement rights. Unlike many creature-collection games, Temtem uses mandatory two-versus-two combat, making target selection, synergy, stamina management, and turn order central considerations. Techniques consume stamina; insufficient stamina permits use but causes overexertion damage, a system making resource planning especially important throughout battles. Every Temtem has one or two elemental Types, and attacks interact with type matchups displayed through effectiveness indicators during encounters. Players can capture wild Temtem with TemCards, build six-member squads, trade with others, and breed species at Omninesia Breeding Center. Breeding uses fertility limits, so offspring cannot be endlessly bred; this restriction shapes efforts to obtain desirable traits and techniques. The game supports cooperative story progression, allowing two players to travel together, fight alongside one another, and view partners' Temtem. Post-campaign activities include Dojo rematches, competitive ranked battles, the rotating Saipark reserve, and the Trade House for player transactions. Saipark changes its available species and special conditions regularly, giving tamers a recurring destination for unusual encounters and hunting opportunities. Temtem launched for PC and later reached PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, with cross-platform multiplayer support included. Crema's Kickstarter campaign sought $250,000 and raised nearly $574,000 from backers, substantially exceeding its funding target before development continued. Its creature designs include starters Crystle, Smazee, and Houchic, whose evolutionary lines give players different type combinations and tactical roles. Crystle is a Crystal-type Temtem, Smazee is Melee-type, and Houchic is Mental-type, providing a defined opening choice at the academy. Temtem's 1.0 version added Arbury and concluded its main narrative, while continuing online systems made the adventure deliberately long-term oriented.
