Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is the follow-up to Digital Sun’s 2018 game Moonlighter. Digital Sun is again developing the project, while 11 bit studios is publishing it. The sequel was revealed in 2025 and is listed for PC, with a 2026 release window. Its return to Moonlighter’s central structure is explicit: Will is not only an adventurer but also a merchant. He ventures beyond town to obtain relics, then puts those finds on sale in his shop. Revenue is meant to fund further progress, linking dungeon expeditions, equipment choices, and the growth of the business rather than treating the store as a separate minigame. The new setting is Tresna, described by the game’s official material as a distant village where Will and his companions have become stranded. That premise separates the sequel from Rynoka, the village that housed the original Moonlighter shop. Tresna functions as the place where the player builds a commercial foothold while seeking a way forward. The subtitle refers to the Endless Vault, a major destination behind the game’s runs. Instead of presenting shopkeeping as decoration, the announced design makes pricing, customer sales, shop improvement, and reinvestment part of Will’s route toward stronger gear and deeper ventures. Although it keeps the action-RPG and rogue-lite label used in its announcement, Moonlighter 2 is visually a substantial change from its predecessor. The original Moonlighter used pixel art; The Endless Vault has been shown with fully three-dimensional characters, environments, shops, and combat spaces viewed from an elevated perspective. Promotional footage shows Will fighting during expeditions before returning to trade. The advertised loop also includes crafting or upgrading equipment with the proceeds of commerce. Digital Sun’s decision to retain Will, retail management, dangerous expeditions, and the relic-selling economy gives the sequel a direct connection to the first game, even as Tresna and the vault establish a different location and objective. At announcement, 11 bit studios positioned the game as an entry in the Moonlighter series rather than a remake or expansion. Its PC version is planned for Steam, where its page identifies single-player play. The game’s announcement materials emphasize the combination of shop management and rogue-lite exploration, describing Will’s need to acquire goods in dangerous dimensions and turn a business into a profitable store. Thus its premise is not another dungeon adventure: the shop’s customers, prices, stock, and upgrades are tied to the protagonist’s ability to continue exploring the Endless Vault.
