MindsEye is a 2025 science-fiction action-adventure game developed by Build A Rocket Boy, the studio founded by former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies. It was released on June 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Windows PC. The game is set in the fictional desert metropolis of Americana, a technologically advanced city shaped by artificial intelligence, military research, corporate power, and social unrest.

Players control Jacob Diaz, a former soldier who has a mysterious neural implant in his head. The implant, known as MindsEye, gives Jacob access to fragmented memories and unusual technological capabilities, while also connecting him to the central mystery of his past. His search for answers draws him into conflicts involving militarized forces, powerful companies, and the political and social consequences of rapidly developing technology.

The narrative focuses on questions about identity, memory, surveillance, and the relationship between humans and intelligent machines. Americana is presented as a place where autonomous systems and advanced robotics are part of everyday life, but where technological progress has not eliminated inequality or violence. Jacob’s personal investigation therefore develops alongside a broader struggle over who controls the city’s future.

MindsEye uses a third-person perspective and combines exploration, cinematic storytelling, gunplay, driving, and large-scale action sequences. Jacob can use firearms, vehicles, and combat abilities while moving through urban districts and desert environments. The game also includes a separate creation platform called ARCADIA. Through ARCADIA, players can build and share interactive experiences using tools intended to support user-generated games, missions, and other content. Build A Rocket Boy described this wider ecosystem as part of its long-term plan for the Everywhere platform, although MindsEye itself is a standalone story-driven release.

The game attracted attention before launch because of Benzies’s involvement and because Build A Rocket Boy was formed by developers associated with the Grand Theft Auto series. It also received significant scrutiny after release for technical problems, inconsistent performance, and critical reviews that questioned its polish and storytelling. The studio issued updates and discussed improvements after launch.

MindsEye is notable not because it simply presents a generic futuristic setting, but because it combines a specific protagonist’s implanted memories with a fictional city built around autonomous technology, military influence, and corporate control. Its connection to ARCADIA also makes it both a conventional action game and an introduction to Build A Rocket Boy’s larger ambition for player-created content.
