Marvel's Wolverine

Marvel's Wolverine is an upcoming action-adventure game from Insomniac Games, made in collaboration with Marvel Games for PlayStation 5. Sony announced it at its September 2021 PlayStation Showcase through a cinematic teaser. That film takes place in the Princess Bar in Madripoor, the fictional island city regularly used in Marvel comics. Its closing image shows Logan standing after a barroom fight as his claws emerge, identifying the protagonist as Wolverine. Insomniac did not present it as a sequel to its Spider-Man games; it is a separate Marvel project built around Logan. At announcement, the studio described it as a standalone. The first official game trailer since the announcement arrived at Sony's September 2025 State of Play presentation. It established a 2026 release window and identified Liam McIntyre as the voice and performance actor for Logan. McIntyre is known for playing Spartacus in the television series Spartacus. The footage depicts Logan in his yellow-and-blue costume and emphasizes close-quarters combat with his retractable claws. It also shows the character healing after injury, a core Wolverine ability in Marvel fiction. The game received an M rating from the ESRB, whose listing cites blood and gore, intense violence, language, and use of drugs and alcohol. Insomniac has said the game is being developed specifically for PlayStation 5, rather than for PlayStation 4. The announced story begins with Logan trying to uncover the secrets of a dark past. Its confirmed settings include Madripoor, the Canadian wilderness, and Tokyo, giving the character locations connected to both his comic-book history and international adventures. The 2025 material names Mystique and Omega Red among the Marvel characters appearing in the game. Omega Red is a Soviet super-soldier and a major Wolverine adversary in Marvel comics, while Mystique is a shapeshifter often tied to X-Men stories. That roster foregrounds Wolverine's Marvel mythology. Insomniac Games previously created Marvel's Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 in 2018, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in 2023. Wolverine nevertheless uses a different lead character and has been marketed with a more adult rating. The original 2021 announcement named Brian Horton as creative director and Cameron Christian as game director. Marvel Games vice president and creative director Bill Rosemann also appeared in the announcement material. Published material does not yet disclose the complete plot, campaign length, or a precise release date.
