Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is a 2016 fighting role-playing game developed by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Released first for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows in October 2016, it later reached Nintendo Switch in 2017, Stadia in 2019, and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2024. It follows 2015's Dragon Ball Xenoverse, retaining its time-patrol premise while expanding the hub world and playable systems.

The player creates a custom Time Patroller from five races: Earthling, Saiyan, Namekian, Majin, or Frieza Race. After an opening mission involving Raditz, the character is recruited by Trunks and the Supreme Kai of Time to join the Time Patrol. Their headquarters, Conton City, replaces Xenoverse's Toki Toki City and serves as a large, explorable multiplayer hub.

The central campaign again involves correcting altered history. Towa, Mira, and the time-traveling villain Fu manipulate events from Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, forcing the Patroller to fight enemies whose strength or alliances have been changed. Major story sections revisit the Saiyan, Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu arcs, then move into material involving Resurrection 'F', the Universe 6 tournament, and Future Trunks' conflict with Goku Black and Zamasu.

Combat combines close-range martial arts with ki blasts, transformations, evasive moves, and customizable skill sets. Xenoverse 2 adds four-player parallel quests, where teams complete objectives in altered scenarios, and expert missions that pit groups against powerful opponents. Players can learn techniques from instructors, equip QQ Bangs that modify clothing-stat effects, and use Dragon Balls to summon Shenron for selected wishes.

The sequel's notable additions include the transformation system for custom characters, including Super Saiyan 3 for Saiyans and Golden form for Frieza Race, as well as Awoken skills for other races. It also introduces the Mentor system more deeply, letting players train under characters such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and Beerus to unlock signature moves.

Post-launch support expanded the game through downloadable content. The Extra Pack series added characters and story material, while the Super Packs and later Legendary Packs drew heavily from Dragon Ball Super. The Future Saga, released in stages beginning in 2024, centers on Fu's interventions and adds fighters including Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé), Vegeta (Super Saiyan God), and Beast Gohan through separate updates.

Its ongoing updates have kept its time-manipulation premise tied to newer anime storylines while preserving player-created heroes as the series' central viewpoint across its expanding campaign.
