Hero Shooter is a very dynamic genre, with fast gameplay, shots and skills flying around at all times, this can certainly put off new players. Therefore, it’s essential that beginners choose a hero with a simpler kit to start playing well. So, we at UmGamer worked on a list focused on friendlier characters for those new to Marvel Rivals.
Just an addendum, this article is not based on any meta. The aim is to show the most attractive heroes to first-time players, without considering win rates in specific patch notes, making our content usable in any season.

Best Vanguards for Beginners
Magneto
Metallic Curtain and Iron Bulwark provide you with much more resistance. If you have a Strategist healing you, Magneto will become almost immortal. Because his cooldown times are low, just keep switching your shields and it will be difficult to shoot you down.
Other Vanguards offer advancements, or skills that require a lot of aiming knowledge, but that's not the case here, your focus should be just staying on the front line with your barriers.
The only point of attention is that the Bulwark can also be used on an ally, sometimes you’ll have to analyze the whole situation. Perhaps it’s worth spending this resource on a Duelist who is attacking, or on a Strategist caught by the enemy team. Other than that, his playing style is easy to follow.
Finally, his Ultimate launches a huge Meteor that deals damage and pushes back enemies hit. In lower matchmakings, made up of more newcomers, it’s common to see an entire team together and poorly positioned, opening up several margins for this ability to do damage!
Doctor Strange
Another easy-to-control tank and, with Shield of the Seraphim, Doctor Strange also brings great potential to block enemy shots and protect the team calmly. This hero can fly with the Cloak of Levitation, allowing him to block attacks from above, or even improve his movement, which is essential for beginners.
On the other hand, he has one of the unique abilities of the entire Marvel Rivals cast, which can be a little confusing at first. With the Pentagram of Farallah, we open two portals that interact with each other, our shots which enter one portal will exit through the other, in the location where you defined, it’s even possible to cross them.
I confess that it can be a challenge at first, but it has a long cooldown time, so we won't use it so often to justify greater difficulty with this character.
Finally, his biggest sources of damage are Maelstrom of Madness and Eye of Agamotto (Ultimate), which are simple, as they are basically area damage skills. We just need to get in the middle of the enemy team, which isn't difficult due to our shield and high HP, and then use the Ultimate first followed by the Maelstrom of Madness.
You're still a Vanguard, don't expect to eliminate everyone with just these skills, but it's an easy combo which will deal significant amounts of damage.
Best Duelists for Beginners
The Punisher
This is the hero who comes closest to a standard FPS, focused on shooting, so a good aim is enough for The Punisher.
He has several weapons, an automatic rifle recommended for medium distances, a shotgun for closer combat, in addition to the Ultimate which gives you two machine guns that annihilate enemies. They all have great precision.

A great feature of the hero is the high movement with Vantage Connection, it allows him to generate a cable, similar to a zip line, for The Punisher to move around, and it’s possible to have several cables at once. This ability will not only prevent several deaths, but will also help you return to battle points more quickly.
Another useful tool for escapes is the Scourge Grenade, basically a smoke which will impair your opponents' vision, you also take a small jump backwards when using it.
Another reason that makes it simple to use is the Culling Turret, an ability that leaves us immobile while controlling a powerful weapon that will even block the damage suffered in front of you. Then you won't have to worry about movement, and your risk of being killed will be reduced. Tip: I suggest using this skill on higher ground, to benefit you in fire exchanges.
Scarlet Witch
This character reminds me a lot of Moira from Overwatch 2, those who know Blizzard's hero shooter know how accurate Moira's main attack is, and Scarlet Witch's attack works in the same way.
We don't really need to shoot a projectile by calculating where the opponent will be when the shot reaches him, her main strike is a very precise spell, which basically “sticks” to the enemy, just place your aim on the opponent and it will cause immense damage. .
If you are threatened, her skill kit offers two charges of Mystic Projection, which leaves you invulnerable and with the ability to fly for a few seconds.
Her Ultimate works similarly to D.Va from Overwatch 2, her body captures energy for a while and then explodes, practically eliminating everyone nearby.
Iron Man
Iron Man is one of the safest heroes in the entire game, in addition to flying freely around the environment, he also has a skill which increases his flying speed, very useful when escaping.
His other abilities are also simple, Armor Overdrive only serves to strengthen your basic attacks, and Micro-Missile Barrage will launch a barrage of missiles in the direction you are facing, not requiring any major mechanics from the player.
Finally, his Ultimate is also relatively simple, where Iron Man fires an enormous pulse cannon, in size and damage!
Best Strategists for Beginners
Rocket Raccoon
Everyone on the team has the responsibility to cause damage, even if in the case of the Strategists, it’s in smaller quantities, and Rocket Raccoon manages to meet this need calmly, with good precision shots.
His biggest duty is to heal his allies, and the raccoon does that calmly, and even goes beyond. With the B.R.B. ability, he resurrects one of the fallen allies. You don't need to aim or hit anything, just leave this mechanism behind a wall to protect the spawning companion.

In terms of movement, Rocket offers several tools, such as his Jetpack Dash, functioning as an advance in any direction, including upwards, and the Wild Crawl passive which allows him to walk on walls.
Finally, your Ultimate is a mechanism that grants a damage boost to nearby allies. Rocket Racoon is easy because of this, your devices do a lot for you on their own, and if you get caught, you still have several tools to escape.
Jeff the Land Shark
The easiest and strongest support in the entire game. Beginners tend to advance more than usual, dying more times than average, and Jeff solves this problem with Hide and Seek, which gives you a lot of movement speed in addition to quickly regenerating your HP. This ability has no cooldown and can be used whenever necessary.
To heal allies, you have Joyful Splash, which works as a basic attack and can be recharged and used over and over again.
In addition to the Healing Bubbles, a skill which carries up to 6 charges, each one being a bubble that, when picked up by an ally, generates healing and a momentary speed increase for them and those nearby, similar to Bard’s “W” in League of Legends, but in area!
“It's Jeff!”, your Ultimate, allows to select a large space in a circle, where Jeff will swallow the heroes present there for a while, damaging those who are enemies and healing allies, then spit them out. You can also spit out allies separately.
One strategy is to ult at the point or escort, spit out allies quickly to get back into the fight, and take enemies to the edge of the map, spitting them out of the scene and, consequently, eliminating them.
