Xbox has made the Disc to Digital feature available to all users of the company's consoles. The feature allows players to claim a digital license by inserting an eligible disc, ending the testing period conducted with participants in the Xbox Insiders program over the past few weeks.Xbox engineer Eden Marie said the feature should already be working. In some cases, however, users had to restart their consoles for the option to appear. The activation does not require a separate system update: Disc to Digital appears to have been included in the September 22 update and remained hidden until the general rollout.Anyone who still cannot find the feature can force it to activate by going to Settings, General, Power options and Restart now. Once the console starts up again, the option to claim a digital license should appear when a compatible disc is inserted. Users can also hover over the game on the dashboard, press the controller's Menu button and look for the corresponding option.Compatibility depends on the participating publishers and games. SEGA has joined the program, following Ubisoft, which signed on a few weeks earlier. Users continue to compile lists of the titles that work with the system.Disc to Digital combines disc ownership with the convenience of a digital license, but it does not automatically cover the entire Xbox library. Availability for a specific game depends on whether it is among the eligible titles and whether its publisher is participating in the program.
