Juliet Starling will be back slicing up zombies in Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back, a sequel announced for PlayStation 5 and slated for release sometime in 2027. The new game puts the cheerleader back in action, now with roller skates that change the pace of the combat shown in the first gameplay footage.

The scenes revealed during Tokyo Game Show 2026 show Juliet cutting through the undead on a street, gliding at high speed as she uses the skates to move around the environment. The video also introduces a fight against Zorbie, a zombie who appears to riff on the image of Barbie.

The story takes Juliet back to San Romero, rebuilt as Jaredwood, a metropolis shaped by the film industry. According to the game’s description, a figure described as a mysterious director traps the protagonist inside a warped zombie movie. From there, Juliet fights alongside allies, investigates a conspiracy behind the chaos and faces a new threat tied to the zombies of the Corrupted Realm.

The announcement stands out because the first Lollipop Chainsaw, released in 2012, became a cult favorite with its mix of over-the-top action, humor and bizarre style. The script involved James Gunn, before his better-known work on Marvel and DC films, while the overall concept came from Suda51, the Japanese creator associated with No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned.

In Back2Back, however, neither Gunn nor Suda51 is involved. The sequel is in the hands of Dragami Games, the studio that previously released a remaster of the original Lollipop Chainsaw, which received a mixed reception.

The first images have also drawn mixed reactions on social media, with some players saying the game still looks rough. Beyond the game, a Lollipop Chainsaw anime series was announced last year as being in development, but no update on that project accompanied the sequel’s reveal.
