About the Hero

Krobleus was a prophet of death, a witch who read the fortunes of those who wished to see beyond the veil. After years of reading and telling the fates of others, she began to desire to know more about her own destiny. When death refused to reveal her future, Krobleus tried to buy this secret with her own life, but even that wasn’t enough.

Death didn’t accept her sacrifice, but Krobleus didn’t give up and kept trying, again and again, and being refused each time, but each time she returned to life, a part of death came with her. Specters now surrounded her and her blood and flesh had become immaterial, Krobleus was now more dead than alive, but still trapped in the world of the living.

With no one to serve but herself and with her link to death stronger than ever, she followed her goal of one day not returning to life and falling forever into the infinite abyss of death.

- Death Prophet

Death Prophet was one of the characters that benefited the most from the latest patches in Dota 2. She no longer is an intelligence hero, instead becoming a universal hero.

Universal heroes can receive benefits from all basic attributes and don’t have a defined primary attribute, making them very versatile.

In the case of Death Prophet, we have a ranged hero with artillery abilities who can perform very well in several positions. In this build, we’ll focus on the Prophet as a Midlaner, who’s responsible for ganking and carrying the team for a good part of the game.

Facet and Skills

Mourning Ritual

The facet chosen for this build. It’s by far the best facet of the Prophet, making her take damage slowly and over time, which causes her to be much more resistant to bursts.

Crypt Swarm

Krobleus launches a wave of spectral bats in a chosen direction, damaging enemies hit.

Silence

Krobleus casts a spell that reaches a certain radius, silencing enemies within its range.

Spirit Siphon

Attaches to an enemy unit, draining its life and absorbing it for itself.

Exorcism

Releases several invulnerable specters that circle around you, draining the health of nearby enemies, including turrets. The Prophet gains a movement bonus while this ultimate is in effect.

Witchcraft

Krobleus' innate. Grants cooldown reduction and movement bonuses for each level the hero gains.

Aghanim

With Aghanim's Scepter, every time an enemy is affected by your abilities, a specter will be summoned to haunt the target.

Items and Strategies

Krobleus is capable of dealing a lot of magic damage to enemies and works very well against strength heroes, especially, with Shiva’s Guard being one of the best items for this hero. Kaya and Sange is another good choice, increasing Krobelus’ arcane lifesteal and allowing you to connect your skills more easily during combat.

Windwaker is another excellent item for this hero, as Eul’s Scepter also works very well, allowing you to disable heroes during combat or dispel annoying effects.

Refresher is an important item in the late game, allowing you to reuse your ultimate, an essential ability to gain ground and take down towers. Aghanim is also important here, allowing DP to have even more terrain control during combat with his specters.

Krobelus is a hero who can connect a lot of damage with his skills and can control waves with ease, advancing the lane to the enemy terrain, so use it wisely. As soon as you reach level 6 and the ultimate, it’s a good time to take down a tower and this ability should only be used in moments like this, in a team fight or to destroy towers.

Use Siphon to stay alive and obliterate enemies with less HP. Arcane lifesteal will be essential with this ability. If Chaos is being targeted a lot with abilities or constantly disabled, don't forget that Black King Bar and Linken's Sphere can solve your problem.

The talents you should prioritize depend a lot on the situation, but at level 25 never dismiss the +8 specters talent from your ultimate, as this is your best ability and will become even more powerful.

Final Thoughts

Death Prophet is one of my favorite heroes, due to his versatility, being able to act as support at times or as a pusher at others and for having abilities that fit in different situations. In the mid lane, this hero is strong, being able to enter into conflict with several other powerful midlaners such as Sniper, invoker and Lina and doing well. He’s a hero that, without a doubt, I recommend with this build.
