The Game Awards (TGA) reached its tenth edition in 2024, which took place on the 12th. The event, which is a reference when it comes to awards and announcements of new games, lived up to its entire trajectory, revealing first-hand sequences of historical franchises such as The Witcher 4 and a new Elden Ring DLC, new IPs from large companies were also presented, such as Naughty Dog's Intergalactic.
Always attracting the attention of the community, the TGA brings debates and controversies in all categories, where the focus is on finding the perfect name to win each of them, especially Game of the Year. In this edition the conversations started early, more specifically since the rumors that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree could be nominated for the biggest title of the night. This prediction was confirmed with the appearance of the DLC in the announcement of those selected.
The biggest surprise was Balatro, an indie game from Localthunk, a company with just one developer, which was nominated for Game of the Year and also won three awards on the night: Best Independent Game, Best Debut Independent Game and Best Mobile Game! Another highlight goes to Metaphor: ReFantazio, another with three titles, in addition to the appearance of Baldur’s Gate 3 again, taking the Best Community Support category even after a year of its release.
