Marvel Rivals: Characters who deserve to enter the game

It’s a fact that Marvel Rivals was successful in proving that there’s still room for new Hero Shooters. With a thunderous launch, the game, in less than a month, became the biggest competitor to Overwatch 2, which until then dominated the market in this genre.

Much of the success is due to the Marvel cast, characters from huge franchises like Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy attract fans just on their own. To make the most of this, NetEase will most likely add new heroes as the seasons progress, as proven by the Fantastic Four having already been announced.

In this article, we’ll cover important and popular figures from this universe who haven’t yet appeared in the Hero Shooter, but deserve their space. Check it out!

Son of Magneto and brother to Scarlet Witch, two characters already released in Marvel Rivals, Quicksilver would certainly be part of good team-up abilities, doing justice to this more dynamic gameplay. Plus, his super speed powers would make him have one of the most fun kits in the game.

A member of the X-Men who also appears in one of the Avengers films, Quicksilver is one of the company's most beloved heroes. His popularity and unique powers are more than enough to bring him into the game.

Vision is another figure with exclusive abilities, such as walking through walls in addition to solar rays and an intellect far above normal, these factors would also make his gameplay different from most characters. His familiarity with technology, as he is an android after all, could bring a mechanic around hacking enemies, similar to Sombra in Overwatch 2.

Possible partners for his combos are Scarlet Witch, Vision’s romantic partner who is very present in his stories, as well as Ultron (not yet released), the android's father and creator.

Deadpool needs no introduction, the anti-hero has always been one of the most loved characters by older audiences, as his personality revolves largely around more adult humor. Present in several comics, and receiving his own film franchise in the last decade, his success has been increasing.

The biggest proof of his popularity was the great reception for the last film starring him, which hit theaters in July 2024. In fact, another star of this feature film was Wolverine, a hero already released in Marvel Rivals who should be a duo for his team-up abilities.

A dynamic fight, with high regeneration and mobility, as well as melee attacks with the katana and ranged attacks with the pistol, perfectly fit Deadpool's style!

One of Marvel's modern highlights, Daredevil has existed for decades, but gained more space after the arrival of his series on Netflix. He was also present in the production of Defenders, alongside Iron Fist.

Despite being blind, he has great knowledge of combat, including super-acute senses and echolocation abilities, which could be transformed into spells in the game, capable of recognizing enemies that are behind you, or on the other side of a wall.

One of the most classic icons in this universe is Ghost Rider, well known from older comics and films. His origins come from when the young pilot and stuntman Johnny Blaze makes a pact with Mephisto himself to save his father's life, so he acquired this dark form and, as an entity of revenge, must punish those who do evil.

His strong personality along with his fire control would make him an excellent option for a Hero Shooter.

Another face already well known by the community, Thanos has always been one of Marvel's main villains, and had his peak during 2018 and 2019, when, respectively, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame debuted on the silver screen.

Mainly because he controls the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos' powers would be as diverse as possible, being capable of altering time or reality. One idea of team-up ability would be with Gamora, his adopted daughter. We see a lot of interactions between them in the films, but unfortunately, we still don't have information if she will be in Marvel Rivals. Adam Warlock is also an option, as they are long-time rivals who search for the Infinity Stones, but at certain times they even consider each other friends.

Like father, like daughter. If Thanos arrives at Hero Shooter one day, Gamora's arrival would add a lot to the game's cast. Although she rebelled against her father after seeing his behavior, it would still be a great duo for their team-up abilities given the history they have together, the fact that she’s part of the Guardians of the Galaxy would also bring other team-ups with heroes already available today, such as Rocket Raccoon, Groot or Star-Lord.

Gamora is known as the “most dangerous woman in the universe”, a master in hand-to-hand combat, she can play the role of an assassin with great ease.

One of the most underrated heroes in his group, Ant-Man still doesn't have the recognition of Iron Man, Captain America or Hulk, among others, but he has important appearances in the MCU, including receiving his own film and then another one, together with The Wasp.

The option to change size would make him extremely flexible and fun to play in Marvel Rivals, whether growing to become more resistant and protect your team, or shrinking to become invisible in the eyes of enemies, or even entering them to do damage from the inside. Another unique feature is communication with ants, it’d be interesting to see Ant-Man commanding an attack by these insects on his opponents.

The Wasp (Janet van Dyne) was Hank Pym’s romantic partner, the original Ant-Man. With his inclusion in the game, Wasp would be a great addition to form a duo.

Her ability to shrink in size, along with her agility in fights, would make her a very mobile hero with fast gameplay. She also enjoys other benefits of the insect, such as flying or attacking with weapons that simulate stingers.

Ultimately, Cyclops is a great fit for Marvel Rivals! He is the field leader of the X-Men and has always been the face of the group alongside Wolverine, and it would even be a good synergy to see in a team-up ability.

Releasing beams of light to cause damage is his main battle feature, and has always caught the attention of fans since the oldest arcades. Trying to control Cyclops again in a video game, this time in an online game, is certainly one of the wishes of a large part of the public.

These are just some of the many examples that NetEase can use to enhance the Marvel Rivals roster. As long as the game's characters are faithful to the original universe, the Hero Shooter will have many more years of success!
