Marvel’s Wolverine reportedly sold around 1.9 million copies on PS5 in its first three days, according to data shared by Rhy Elliot of Alinea Analytics. The estimate places Insomniac Games’ title among PlayStation Studios’ strongest launches of the year.

Of that total, roughly 1 million units came from digital pre-orders placed before launch. The analysis also points to more than $130 million in revenue so far.

Physical copies accounted for 22.9% of Marvel’s Wolverine sales. The figure stands out amid Sony’s plans to stop producing discs for new PlayStation games in 2028, suggesting there is still demand for physical editions of major PS5 releases.

However, the format split is more heavily weighted toward digital than for some of the platform’s other recent hits. Previous data from Alinea Analytics showed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, also from Insomniac Games, generated 35% of its PS5 revenue from physical editions. Astro Bot recorded around 46% of its sales on disc, while Ghost of Yotei stood at 37.6%.

As Marvel’s Wolverine has only recently hit stores, that percentage could change over the coming weeks and months, particularly during the holiday season.

The early 1.9 million mark would also put Logan’s adventure ahead of Saros, Marathon and Marvel Tokon among PlayStation Studios games released this year. The report also shows a clear link to the fanbase of Insomniac’s previous games: 82% of buyers had already played Marvel’s Spider-Man, while 70% had played Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

There is also overlap with Marvel Rivals: 43% of Marvel’s Wolverine players had already tried the hero shooter.
