Nintendo believes the Switch 2's journey is only just beginning. That is the view of Devon Pritchard, COO of Nintendo of America, who pointed to both Nintendo's own experiences and those of its partners as defining the console's early days.

The Switch 2 became the best-selling video game hardware launch in U.S. history, surpassing the PS4's record. Nearly a year after reaching stores, the system's sales are approaching 20 million units, making it the second-fastest-selling console in the country's history.

Games such as Pokopia and other Nintendo hits have helped maintain that momentum, even after the hardware's price increase. Pritchard said the company has already seen meaningful experiences on the new system, but is looking forward to what developers will still bring to the platform.

Nintendo is also looking beyond consoles. The executive cited its partnership with Sony Pictures and the premiere of The Legend of Zelda film, scheduled for late April. The project is simply titled The Legend of Zelda, with no subtitle.

The company has already posted major box office results: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie earned US$ 1 billion, including US$ 372,6 million in its opening weekend. Pritchard linked those partnerships to the opportunity to introduce Nintendo experiences to both existing fans and new audiences.

Among the games mentioned by the executive was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The remake was recently revealed, while the Zelda film has already completed its first stage of filming in New Zealand, which began in October 2025.

For Nintendo, the battle for audiences' attention involves creating fun experiences and connections that span generations.
