Riot Games has already made Act 1 of Season 2025, also known as V25, available in the first weeks of January. In it, the agent Tejo was added, in addition to a renewal of the battle pass and other changes. You can check out more details in ourpatch notes.
With that, the meta would clearly change, especially for beginners who came across the launch of the Colombian. So, we at UmGamer worked on a list with the best characters in each class in the game to guide you at the beginning of the season. Check it out!

Best Initiators for the 2025 Season
Tejo
We've already opened the list with Valorant's new agent. It's common for Riot Games' releases to stand out, and it was no different with Tejo. The Colombian is very efficient at setting bombs, as in addition to forcing enemy repositioning with his stun and damage abilities, he also has a drone to locate them.
In my analysis of the new agent, I highlighted the fact that his abilities are similar to Breach's. However, Tejo's difference is that he has good damage tools, meaning you rarely expose yourself to eliminate someone or destroy something like Killjoy's Ultimate, since his abilities already do that for you.
Geeko
Although initiators are not known for shining in defense rounds, Geeko can stop the opponent's initial advance with his bang, even though it’s not one of the best in the game.
But when it comes to attacking, we’ve seen Geeko at the top of the list for months. Planting the Spike with the Wingman is a glaring difference for the agent, and after achieving this easily, we will have good mechanics like the Mosh Pit and his Ultimate to defend the Spike.
It’s also worth mentioning that any of Geeko's abilities, except for the Mosh Pit, can be recharged if you pick them up on the ground after use, another peculiarity unique to this character.
Best Duelists for the 2025 Season
Jett
Not recommended for beginners, Jett requires mastery of aiming and movement, since her entire kit works around these points. But it's still a fact that she's very strong in the meta.
Her dash is very flexible, allowing for quick advances with a Judge or an open positioning by aiming with the Operator. In addition, the Ultimate used in economic rounds gives Jett even greater combat power, attracting a good part of the community.
Raze
Raze is a more viable choice for newcomers. The Brazilian is also another popular agent, as she has numerous damage-dealing tools, in addition to her bombs to move around.
One thing that sets her apart is that she’s more useful than the average duelist on defense, as she can detect a hostile presence with her cart, and she also gains a lot of time by blocking enemy advances with her grenade. Her massive damage with her Ultimate also makes her a popular character in Valorant.
Best Sentinels for the 2025 Season
Sage
Sage needs no introduction. The healer is just as efficient as other sentinels in defense, preventing opponents from entering with her slowness and wall. She’s also one of the few agents in this class who can use one of her abilities to help enter the bombsite, I mean the wall, preventing her team from being eliminated by an opponent located nearby.

The permanence of maps like Split and Haven in the 2025 Season rotation is also essential for her to remain in the meta, since they’re her standout maps. The healing and resurrection generated by her are simple, and certainly make a difference in most rounds.
Vyse
One of the most recent additions to the Valorant roster also came with controversy regarding her strength. Vyse has an invisible bang, in addition to her wall that detects an opponent and spikes to slow down the advance and inhibit a plant.
The main one is her Ultimate that literally removes the primary weapons of enemies in a huge area for a few seconds, being very useful for opening the bomb in attack rounds. This allows her to perform an initiator and sentinel function without much difficulty.
Until Riot balances her abilities a little more, you can be sure that Vyse will continue to have high win rates.
Best Controllers for Season 2025
Clove
I see Clove's situation as similar to Geeko's, as they’ve been at the top of their game for a long time, and that hasn't changed with the arrival of the new update.
Coincidentally, they’re another popular character among Valorant players, and I dare say they’ve surpassed Reyna. This is because Clove has a complete kit with some duelist mechanics to help them in direct firefights, such as the grenade that reduces the health of enemies, or the energy absorption when eliminating an enemy that grants you temporary extra health and movement, which in itself already draws the attention of the community, which mostly prefers combat-oriented skills.
The great smokes and the ability to use them even after dying make this character very efficient as a controller. In addition to still being able to revive themselves in the Ultimate, even if they need to eliminate someone first to guarantee resurrection, it’s a fact that just activating the ability will give the opponent some trouble, especially if they don't have much time to plant or disarm the Spike.
Omen
He's definitely not as strong as Clove right now, but among the remaining controllers, Omen stands out the most. His Paranoia not only blinds targets but also takes away their ability to hear, allowing him to teleport in surprise to get around.
His smokes are simple and have huge ranges, which, for example, allows you to join your team on bomb A and still be able to unleash the ability on B, confusing your opponents.
Conclusion
The meta has brought some changes compared to the end of last year. We no longer see Sova as one of the main initiators. Another player who has lost ground is Cypher. He’s still one of the best sentinels in the game, but not the main one. On the other hand, Tejo has already made an impact on the compositions and Raze has been taking over from Reyna. Finally, the base of Geeko, Jett, Omen and Clove has remained at the top for months.
