The Blood of Dawnwalker is an upcoming open-world dark fantasy action role-playing game from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former CD Projekt developers. It is the first project announced by the Polish company, which revealed the game in January 2025. The title is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Rebel Wolves’ leadership includes Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, previously game director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, whose earlier work includes quests and narrative design on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The game takes place in an alternate version of 14th-century Europe, during a period marked by plague, conflict, and social instability. Its principal setting is Vale Sangora, a remote valley in the Carpathian Mountains. In this world, vampires emerge from hiding during a devastating plague and exploit humanity’s weakness. After overthrowing the local feudal rulers, they establish their own regime over the valley. The story begins roughly thirty years after that takeover, when the inhabitants have adapted, resisted, collaborated, or tried simply to survive under vampire rule. Players control Coen, a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker. He is neither fully human nor fully vampire: daylight leaves him human, while night grants him vampiric powers. This condition is central to the game’s structure rather than a decorative premise. Coen has thirty days and nights to save his family, but the stated time limit is intended to be flexible: players may pursue the main goal quickly, spend time exploring, or choose actions that alter their priorities. Rebel Wolves describes time as a resource, meaning that undertaking one objective can make other opportunities unavailable. Coen’s day-and-night duality affects combat, exploration, and decision-making. During the day, he relies on human abilities and can move through the world without the same vampire-related limitations. At night, he gains supernatural capabilities, but his hunger for blood becomes a concern. Players can reportedly choose whether Coen feeds, whom he feeds on, and how far he is willing to go to gain power. The studio has presented those choices as morally consequential, not merely as an upgrade system. The Blood of Dawnwalker is designed as a single-player experience with a narrative sandbox approach. Rather than requiring one prescribed route, it allows players to decide which threats to confront, allies to seek, and methods to use. Its vampire politics, plague-ravaged medieval setting, and protagonist’s divided nature distinguish the project from Rebel Wolves’ earlier work, while its creators’ Witcher and Cyberpunk backgrounds inform expectations for character-driven quests and meaningful player choice.
