Battlefield 6 is a first-person shooter developed by Battlefield Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It was released on October 10, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S. The game returns the series to a modern military setting and centers its campaign on Dagger 13, a U.S. Marine Raiders squad operating during a global crisis.

The campaign begins in 2027, after NATO has been weakened by political divisions and military setbacks. Its principal adversary is Pax Armata, a powerful private military company whose actions threaten to reshape the international balance of power. Players take the role of Marine Raider Dylan Murphy, alongside members of Dagger 13, including squad leader Haz Carter. The story moves between locations such as Brooklyn, Cairo, and Gibraltar, placing the squad in urban combat and other large-scale operations. Rather than following a single uninterrupted battle, the campaign presents a sequence of missions tied to the escalating conflict between the Marines and Pax Armata.

Battlefield 6’s multiplayer includes the series’ established large-team modes, among them Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush. These modes put objectives and territory at the center of combat: teams capture and defend control points, advance through sectors, or attack and protect objectives. The game also brings back Battlefield’s class system, with Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon roles. Each class has equipment and abilities suited to a different battlefield function, encouraging players to coordinate instead of relying on one universal loadout.

Destruction remains a prominent part of the combat. Buildings and other structures can be damaged or demolished, changing sightlines and cover during a match. Vehicles, including tanks and aircraft, add another layer to the battles, while infantry fights continue around the same objectives. The resulting maps are designed to support several kinds of engagement, from close combat inside buildings to longer-range exchanges across open ground.

The game launched with a single-player campaign, competitive multiplayer, and Portal, the series’ mode for creating and sharing custom experiences. Portal allows players to adjust rules and build different match formats using Battlefield tools and content. Battlefield 6 is the main numbered entry following Battlefield 2042, which launched in 2021. Its return to a near-future conflict, a focused squad campaign, and traditional class-based multiplayer distinguish it from that earlier game’s emphasis on a broader, specialist-led cast and its large-scale battles.
