The Duskbloods is an upcoming multiplayer action game from FromSoftware, the Japanese studio behind Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Elden Ring. Nintendo announced it during the Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 presentation on April 2, 2025, identifying it as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive scheduled for release in 2026. The project is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware’s president and the director of several of the company’s best-known games. The announcement trailer presents The Duskbloods as an online experience built around competition among supernatural warriors. Up to eight players can participate in a single match, placing the game in a different category from FromSoftware’s primarily single-player role-playing games. Rather than following one fixed hero through a large campaign, players appear to control members of a mysterious group called the Duskbloods, whose struggle is connected to blood and an ominous, supernatural world. The trailer shows characters with sharply different silhouettes and abilities, including armored fighters, figures carrying firearms, and monstrous or heavily transformed combatants. Battles take place across elaborate environments that combine Gothic architecture, industrial machinery, open landscapes, and enormous creatures. One sequence features players confronting a giant enemy while also contending with rival participants, suggesting that cooperation and betrayal may coexist within the same match. The footage also emphasizes fast movement, distinctive weapons, and dramatic transformations, although FromSoftware and Nintendo have not publicly explained every character, ability, or objective. The title’s connection to blood places it near themes familiar from FromSoftware’s earlier work, especially Bloodborne, but The Duskbloods is not presented as a sequel to that game. Its confirmed platform is Nintendo Switch 2, and its online format makes it a notable departure for the studio. The announcement did not provide a final release date, pricing information, or a complete description of progression systems. Because the game is still in development, many details remain unconfirmed. Nintendo and FromSoftware have shown the setting, combat direction, player count, and broad premise, but they have not yet published a full story synopsis or definitive roster of playable characters. What is established is that The Duskbloods is a new FromSoftware production designed specifically for competitive online play on Nintendo’s second-generation Switch hardware, with Miyazaki overseeing the project and a planned 2026 launch. Its eventual identity will depend on how the studio combines its recognizable atmosphere and demanding combat with the structure of an eight-player match.
