The Resident Evil Requiem DLC is expected to delve deeper into Oswell E. Spencer’s story. Game writer Haris Orkin revealed in an interview at Meadowlark Comic Con that he is working on the expansion with Capcom and that the character’s arc will be explored in greater detail.“We’re working together,” Orkin said when discussing development of the additional content. He also said the expansion would provide a deeper understanding of Spencer’s journey. Shortly afterward, he acknowledged that he might not have been supposed to reveal that.In Resident Evil Requiem, Spencer is portrayed differently from his appearances in previous games in the series. Rather than being depicted as a villain driven by megalomaniacal plans, he emerges as a figure defined by regret. The expansion is expected to shed more light on this change, although Orkin did not explain how it would do so.The writer also discussed his approach to writing antagonists: they tend to believe they are the heroes of their own stories. According to Orkin, that perspective is already present in Spencer’s arc in Requiem and will be explored further in the DLC.The existence of a major story expansion had already been confirmed in March by director Koshi Nakanishi, but he did not reveal details about its content. There is still no information about the DLC’s release date, platforms or price. Orkin announced in February that he would be collaborating with Capcom for two and a half years. In the same interview, the writer explained that he decided to write Grace, an FBI analyst with little field experience, as being on the autism spectrum. He described her as an expert at finding clues, but someone who struggles to deal with other people. The comment was not presented as information about the expansion.Resident Evil Requiem was released in February. By April, the game had surpassed 7 million copies sold, including 5 million in its first five days. Capcom has yet to announce when it plans to share more information about the DLC.
