Arc Raiders will receive Frozen Trail, a free update that expands several systems in the extraction shooter. The content will launch on October 8 and marks the game's first major update under Embark's new six-month schedule between major updates.Patch 2.0 overhauls virtually every aspect of the experience. It introduces a redesigned skill tree, new weapons, an additional map and new ARC enemies. The update also adds customizable personal bases, allowing players to decorate their own spaces.Movement will gain an important new tool with the arrival of the grappling hook. As shown in the reveal video, the device can latch onto a point and propel the character in different directions, creating new ways to traverse the map. The grappling hook can also be used against ARC robots, allowing players to attach themselves to the machines and be carried along as they move.The shift in the update schedule is part of a broader plan for Arc Raiders. Rather than releasing major changes every month, Embark plans to pack more content into updates spaced further apart. Frozen Trail brings progression, exploration, combat and customization changes together in a single package.Grøndal explained the revamped skill tree in greater detail during a press Q&A session.
