Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra is an online four-versus-four team battle game based on Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball franchise. Bandai Namco Entertainment published it, while Ganbarion developed it. The project first appeared publicly as Dragon Ball Project Multi before being retitled Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra. Its full announcement was made during Summer Game Fest 2025, and the game launched on September 9, 2025. It is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC through Steam, iOS, and Android. Cross-platform play lets players on those versions join the same matches, while cross-progression preserves account progress across supported platforms. The game is free-to-play rather than a boxed fighting game. Its basic structure uses two teams of four players in real-time matches. Each participant selects a Dragon Ball character and develops that character during the battle. Defeating enemies and completing match objectives earn experience, allowing level increases and access to stronger abilities. This progression is therefore confined to the individual match, not presented as a permanent story campaign. Official descriptions identify three combat roles: Damage, Tank, and Technical. Damage characters emphasize offense; Tanks are intended to absorb pressure and protect allies; Technical characters contribute specialized support or disruptive tools. A team’s mix of roles matters because the game asks players to cooperate rather than simply chase individual knockouts. Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra’s arenas include enemy-controlled characters as well as the opposing team. These neutral enemies provide experience and create additional objectives around which squads can fight. Matches culminate in attempts to destroy the rival team’s Dragon Ball. This objective gives the battles a structure distinct from a conventional one-on-one Dragon Ball duel. The game also features familiar series fighters, including Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Android 18, Majin Buu, Frieza, and Zamasu. Their selection reflects the franchise’s use of characters from different Dragon Ball eras and story arcs, rather than an original protagonist. Players can alter visual presentation through hero customization options such as costumes and entrance animations. These options affect how a chosen hero appears but do not replace the role-based match design. Bandai Namco positioned the title as Dragon Ball’s first team-based battle game, emphasizing coordinated four-player squads and accessibility across console, computer, and mobile devices. Its title uses “Gekishin,” a Japanese term associated with intense battle, and “Squadra,” an Italian word for squad. The combination suits a game whose central premise is coordinated team combat with Dragon Ball heroes and villains.
