Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch without microtransactions or generative artificial intelligence. Rockstar Games confirmed the news during a conversation with Kinda Funny Games held before the GTA 6: Extended Look presentation.

Andy Cortez said he asked Rockstar whether players would be able to use real money to purchase in-game items. According to him, the answer was straightforward: GTA 6 will not feature monetization. Greg Miller then said he specifically asked the team about the use of generative AI and was told that the game does not use that kind of artificial intelligence.

The presentation preceding the statements revealed more details about GTA 6. The video is also available below.

The absence of microtransactions applies to systems that allow players to buy content with real money in the game. There is, however, one distinction involving GTA 6's commercial editions: the Ultimate Edition will offer exclusive items to those who purchase it or upgrade to it.

Priced at US$ 99.99, the Ultimate Edition costs US$ 20 more than the standard edition, which was announced at US$ 79.99. The package includes cosmetic content, cars, weapons and access to exclusive businesses, such as the Electric Fang tattoo parlor and the Stock 305 clothing store. An official support page confirmed that owners of the standard edition will be able to purchase the upgrade separately.

Rockstar also said that the Ultimate Edition bonuses will be spread across different points in Jason and Lucia's story, with new items unlocking throughout each chapter.

GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar did not provide any details about a new version of Grand Theft Auto Online in this announcement.
