Valheim has left early access and has already seen a strong resurgence in its Steam player base. At the time reflected in the data, around 160,000 people were playing the PC version simultaneously. It is the game’s highest player count on the platform since April 2021, when the Viking survival adventure went viral. The current figure, however, remains well below its all-time peak of 502,387 concurrent players, reached more than five years ago.The launch of version 1.0 brings a long early-access development period to an end. For players returning to Valheim, the update adds the new Deep North biome, more than 40 new weapons, additional crafting items and hammers, a graphics setting that increases draw distance, and other changes.Steam’s numbers also no longer represent the game’s entire community. Valheim is available on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, spreading players across several platforms.Valheim’s original peak was driven by internet meme buzz and a player base still living in a period closer to the pandemic. Now, version 1.0 opens a new chapter for the game, with its first full weekend after leaving early access serving as the next test of this renewed momentum.
