Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra will receive a major overhaul in late 2026. Bandai Namco describes the update as an “overhaul,” featuring significant gameplay changes intended to make the free-to-play MOBA more accessible and position it to retain a broad audience in the years ahead.

The decision followed the team's identification of a high barrier to competitive play. According to the developers' letter, the game's strategic depth and knowledge-based mechanics created a wide gap between top-performing players and the rest of the community. As a result, newcomers often found themselves in unbalanced matches and struggled to compete.

The plan includes a new camera perspective. The current top-down view will be replaced by a closer perspective on the characters and the action, aiming to heighten the intensity of Dragon Ball battles. Some visual elements will also be updated.

The rules and maps will be reworked to make matches easier to understand and bring them closer to the action expected from a game based on the franchise. The role system will also be simplified, allowing players to choose their favorite characters with less impact from performance differences between roles.

Bandai Namco also plans to expand customization options and improve the presentation of items during matches, with more prominent visual effects. Character acquisition and other interconnected systems will be reworked to make them easier to understand, while long-term progression features will be expanded.

The changes are scheduled for late 2026, following the first-anniversary campaign. The game will celebrate its second anniversary in September, according to the update released by the company. The team says the decision was not made lightly and will hold a Q&A session about the overhaul on the official Discord.
