Nintendo has declared November 1 Pikmin Day, marking the occasion with a Direct presentation lasting just over nine minutes. Shigeru Miyamoto explained that the date refers to the three original Pikmin: lined up side by side, they resemble “11.1”. The celebration is unrelated to the series’ launch, which took place in Japan in October 2001.During the presentation, Miyamoto shared updates on Pikmin 4 but did not announce a fifth game. The main reveal was a Nintendo Switch 2 edition, set to launch on November 12, 2026. Players will be able to use the console’s built-in microphone to give Oatchi commands such as “move forward” and “get to work”.Dandori Academy will also get new challenges, including timed trials held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with medals up for grabs. A free demo of the Switch 2 edition will be available starting November 2. It will include the opening area, Sun-Speckled Terrace, and two Dandori Academy stages. Progress can be carried over to the full game.Pikmin Bloom, the augmented reality smartphone game released in 2021, will add Secret Caves this winter. Players will send their Pikmin on expeditions to take on creatures and search for treasure. Before entering a cave, they will need to find a map, which may appear in items such as postcards.Maps reveal information about each cave, while treasures include items such as a rubber duck, a sword, a cookie and a chef’s hat. If a battle breaks out, players can send their Pikmin to attack at the right moment or retreat. The Dandori Academy trials in Pikmin 4 will also let players collect maps.Information from IGN.
