BioWare’s past two years have been captured on film for Massive Effect: The BioWare Story, a documentary due in 2027. It will follow the studio’s recent history and feature interviews with people connected to it.

Shane Fennessey and Adam Scorgie are producing the film for Canadian broadcaster Super Channel. Announced interviewees include Casey Hudson, a game director on the Mass Effect series, and Jennifer Hale, who voiced the female version of Commander Shepard. Geoff Keighley has also said he was interviewed.

The footage could offer a behind-the-scenes look at a difficult period for BioWare that ended last month. It remains unclear whether the documentary will include previously unseen footage of the canceled Mass Effect game. Few details about what was filmed have been released.

Co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk said they were honored when the production team sought their blessing to tell the studio’s story. In their statement, they credited the development teams, partners and fans who helped build the worlds BioWare became known for. They see the film as a tribute to everyone who was part of that journey.

The documentary is not expected to premiere until sometime in 2027. Super Channel has yet to announce an exact date or say whether Massive Effect: The BioWare Story will be available to watch online outside Canada.
