Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a 2023 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 5. It continues Insomniac's 2018 Marvel's Spider-Man and 2020's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, placing Peter Parker and Miles Morales in a shared open-world version of New York City. The PlayStation 5-only launch occurred on October 20, 2023. A Windows version followed on January 30, 2025, handled by Nixxes Software with Insomniac. Its story begins after the events of Miles Morales, with Peter and Miles both protecting the city while Peter struggles to balance heroism with civilian life and mounting personal pressure. Peter is living with Mary Jane Watson in Queens and has placed faith in Harry Osborn's recovery from the illness that removed him from public life. Harry returns with an experimental black symbiote developed through Oscorp's partnership with Curt Connors. Kraven the Hunter, however, arrives in New York seeking worthy prey after exhausting the hunts available elsewhere. His followers capture super-powered adversaries, including Scorpion, Vulture, Shocker, and Mister Negative, and turn the city into a hunting ground. Kraven eventually targets Connors, transforming him back into the Lizard, because he regards the creature as a more formidable quarry than ordinary criminals. The symbiote bonds to Peter after Harry is gravely injured, giving Spider-Man new abilities while amplifying Peter's anger and aggression. The game reflects this shift in both story and combat: the black suit unlocks symbiote attacks and changes Peter's demeanor. Miles challenges him as Peter becomes increasingly obsessed with defeating Kraven. After Peter removes the creature with Miles's help, Harry becomes its host again. It transforms into Venom and kills Kraven before attempting to spread symbiotes across New York. The finale sees Peter and Miles fight Venom at the Emily-May Foundation, where Harry's condition becomes critical after the symbiote is destroyed. Gameplay lets players switch between Peter and Miles during designated missions and freely roam Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Queens and Brooklyn expand the playable city beyond the previous games' Manhattan-based map. Both heroes use web-swinging, wall-crawling, stealth, gadgets, and aerial traversal; web wings enable gliding through wind tunnels. The main antagonist Venom was voiced by Tony Todd, while Yuri Lowenthal returned as Peter and Nadji Jeter as Miles. Laura Bailey played Mary Jane, and Graham Phillips played Harry. The game received seven nominations at The Game Awards 2023, including Game of the Year, but did not win an award there.
