Kingdom Come: Deliverance opens in Skalitz, a Bohemian mining village. Its story is set during 1403, amid a succession crisis. Henry, a blacksmith's son, lives there with his parents peacefully. That peace ends when King Sigismund's forces attack settlement brutally. Henry escapes, then returns to bury his murdered parents there. The catastrophe turns an ordinary apprentice into a reluctant fighter. Unlike fantasy role-playing games, this world contains no supernatural magic. Warhorse Studios developed this game using CryEngine technology throughout development. It presents Bohemia through a first-person perspective throughout play carefully. Henry's abilities improve through practice rather than selecting conventional classes. Sword fighting uses directional attacks, blocks, parries, and stamina management. Combat becomes difficult when several opponents surround Henry simultaneously nearby. Hunger, energy, injuries, and equipment condition affect his daily survival. Sleeping, eating, and maintaining weapons matter during ordinary gameplay too. The main quest follows Henry's search for those responsible there. His investigation gradually connects local violence with larger politics surrounding. Radzig Kobyla becomes Henry's patron after Skalitz is destroyed completely. Henry serves under Captain Bernard while learning military discipline properly. He also develops a rivalry and friendship with Hans Capon. Their relationship changes during quests involving hunting, bandits, and politics. Theresa, a survivor from Skalitz, receives a substantial personal storyline. The player can rescue her during a dangerous mill-related encounter. Henry's choices influence reputation, dialogue, and some quest outcomes directly. Dialogue checks compare attributes such as speech, charisma, and intimidation. Clothing affects social impressions, stealth, noise, and visible status differently. A clean, well-dressed Henry may receive different responses from nobles. Dirty armor can make conversations harder, while darkness aids stealth. Quests often permit multiple solutions instead of one prescribed answer. Players may investigate, negotiate, steal, fight, or exploit timing carefully. Consequences can alter relationships, rewards, and the survival of characters. One major episode involves infiltrating the bandit stronghold Pribyslavitz secretly. Its outcome prepares the army's assault against the criminals there. Later, Henry investigates a monastery whose routines conceal important secrets. That section asks players to observe schedules and identities carefully. The game includes archery, alchemy, lockpicking, pickpocketing, and mounted travel. Its alchemy system requires following recipes in a precise sequence. The reconstructed settlements include Rattay, Sasau, Talmberg, and Ledetchko prominently. These locations are reconstructed from fifteenth-century Bohemian geography and architecture. The soundtrack was composed by Adam Sporka and Jan Valta. Released in 2018, the game became Warhorse's debut feature production.
