Destruction AllStars is a vehicular combat game developed by Lucid Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 5 in 2021.

Edit reference

Destruction AllStars is a vehicular combat video game developed by Lucid Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 5. It launched on February 2, 2021, after Sony moved its release from November 2020; the delay coincided with the PlayStation 5's launch window. Rather than arriving at its originally announced US$69.99 price, it was offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers at no additional charge from launch until April 5, 2021. The game is set around the Global Destruction Federation, a televised competition where celebrity drivers seek fame through destructive arena events. Its roster contains 16 playable AllStars, each associated with a distinct hero vehicle and a Breaker ability.

Players can leave damaged cars and continue on foot, an important departure from games that make the vehicle the player's only avatar. On foot, contestants can sprint, jump, vault over obstacles, steal an opponent's vehicle, or evade traffic while looking for another car. Each AllStar's hero vehicle has an individual name, design, and special Breaker, while their personal Breakers alter what they can do outside a car. The game therefore connects driving combat with vulnerable character movement, instead of treating a wrecked vehicle as an immediate elimination. Matches take place in enclosed destruction arenas designed for collisions and vertical traversal.

At release, Destruction AllStars included four principal multiplayer modes: Mayhem, Carnado, Stockpile, and Gridfall. Mayhem rewards players for damaging rivals and collecting shards created through vehicle destruction. Carnado asks players to bank shards at a central tornado-like Carnado, creating risk because unbanked shards can be lost. Stockpile centers on securing and delivering collected shards to team banks. Gridfall introduces a shrinking floor, forcing competitors to keep moving as sections of the arena disappear. The game supports online competitive play and had single-player Challenge Series content tied to individual AllStars. Its named cast includes Ultimo Barricado, Boxtop, Tw!ster, Shyft, Xander and Hana.

Lucid Games had previously worked on the PlayStation 3 racing series MotorStorm, and Destruction AllStars was positioned as the studio's PlayStation 5 project. The game uses third-person character controls between vehicle engagements, reinforcing its arena-sport structure. Sony announced it during the PlayStation 5 games reveal event in June 2020. Following release, the title received post-launch updates that added modes, playlists, and seasonal content. One update introduced Blitz, a mode emphasizing quick vehicle combat, while later additions included Photo Mode and further Challenge Series events. Destruction AllStars remains specifically built around named drivers.
