Attack on Titan 2 is an action game developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo. Released in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, it adapts the early story of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan manga and its anime adaptation. Rather than controlling only Eren Yeager, players create an original Scout who joins the military during the events of the 104th Cadet Corps’ training and later fights alongside the Survey Corps. The campaign retells major events from the anime’s first two seasons. The player’s character trains with Eren, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, and the other cadets before becoming involved in the defense of Trost. Later operations include confrontations with the Female Titan and missions connected to the revelation that Titans can exist within the Walls. The custom character is integrated into these events without replacing the established protagonists, providing a new viewpoint on familiar battles. Combat centers on the Omni-Directional Mobility gear. Players launch anchor lines toward buildings, trees, or Titans, accelerate through the environment, and target specific body parts. Severing a Titan’s nape is normally the decisive attack, while cutting arms or legs can limit its movement and create safer openings. Gas, blades, and replacement equipment must be managed during missions, making supply posts and preparation important parts of longer engagements. Human enemies and abnormal Titans add additional threats beyond ordinary roaming Titans. Between missions, the protagonist can spend time with fellow soldiers. These interactions raise friendship levels and unlock skills, equipment-related benefits, and additional scenes. The system gives characters such as Levi, Hange, Sasha, and Jean roles beyond combat, while also expanding the original character’s connection to the regiment. A later expansion, Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle, released in 2019. It adds material based on the anime’s third season, including the political conflict inside the Walls and the Survey Corps’ operation to retake Wall Maria. Final Battle also adds playable characters, a separate character-creation option tied to the anime’s established cast, and Territory Recovery Mode, in which players organize squads to reclaim land from Titans. The combined release therefore covers substantially more of the anime’s story than the original game. Its distinctive contribution is not a new canon ending, but the chance to experience Attack on Titan’s signature aerial combat through a custom Scout while following its documented early narrative. That combination of adaptation, character relationships, and targeted Titan anatomy makes it specifically recognizable as Attack on Titan 2.
