GTA VI: Everything we already know about Rockstar's new game

Last Tuesday (the 6th) was highlighted by the arrival of a second trailer for GTA VI, the gaming community stopped the internet when they received a “little extra taste” of the new title of one of the biggest franchises in history.

On top of that, Rockstar Games released, on their official website, more information about the game, such as characters, images and places that’ll be part of your experience in Vice City. With that in mind, we at UmGamer have gathered all of the information in this article. Check it out!

First Trailer

At the end of 2023, we watched the first trailer for GTA VI, a short piece that showed a bit of the chaos in Vice City - inspired by Miami - with lots of parties, crimes and beautiful beaches, and also introducing the two protagonists of this plot. Until then, the expected release year was 2025.

Second Trailer

And now, over a year later, we finally received more official information. Recently, a delay’s been announced, leading to the title only arriving in 2026. Days later, we received a second, more in-depth trailer, which also confirms the expected date: May 26th, 2026.

Note: The release on this day will only be for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as stated on the official website. So far, we have no information about PC and other platforms.

This second trailer had a stronger focus on dialogues involving Jason Duval, one of the main faces of this new story.

The trailer didn’t tell us a lot about his past, we’re already inserted into a reality where he works for a guy named Brian, collecting debts.

In part of the content, we see Jason working out, perhaps as a reference to show that we’ll have this functionality within the game, which changes the protagonist's physique. Another curious fact is that he appears with different haircuts across the scenes, it’ll be interesting if this feature is added to the gameplay.

After that, Jason goes to the prison to look for Lucia Caminos, his recently released partner. We can infer that the two have always been a faithful couple, given that in some situations it’s possible to see Jason being the target of compliments and light flirting, but without giving any reciprocity - all of his romantic scenes are only with Lucia.

Obviously, the relationship between the two doesn't stop there, since at times it’s possible to see them carrying out robberies, including bank ones, and wreaking havoc with the police. Lucia will also need to adapt to being recently released from prison, given that she takes part in community activities and even wears an electronic ankle bracelet.

At the end of the video, there’s a note that the captures were made on a PS5, implying that the current generation will be able to render the great graphics shown in the trailer. In fact, the visual quality is surprising, the great work doesn’t only show in the well-constructed scenarios, even the smallest details are on another level - like the sweat, reflection or the beer bottles themselves.

As mentioned previously, in addition to the trailer, material about the characters and locations of GTA VI was also made available on the developer's official website. Nothing too in-depth, but enough to help us understand the main features of each character.

Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos

Starting with the two playable characters, Jason was raised around con artists. The website confirms that his work is indeed illegal and that his employers are drug dealers.

Lucia, on the other hand, has been a fighter since childhood and was arrested while fighting for her family. Now, she wants to act with more intelligence and strategy. Following her dream of living successfully, she’s prepared to give it her all, no matter the cost.

Brian Heder

This is one of the local drug dealers and Jason's boss, who’s present in the first seconds of the video. He gives the protagonist a house for free in exchange for help in extorting and "collecting” debts from the local residents. Confirming once again that the story’ll begin with Jason working illegally.

Cal Hampton

Cal seems to be an outgoing and casual man, mostly looking for fun in bars and drinks. Still, Jason's friend could be a key piece in the story, given that he "snoops" on Coast Guard communications.

One interesting fact that caught the community's attention is a photo of Cal wearing a t-shirt with the text: "Violence is cool! Thanks, video games." It really gives him a sense of humor.

Boobie Ike

Another figure who appears to be of extreme importance. Boobie is one of the big bosses of Vice City, conquering real estate, a nightclub and a recording studio with illegal money. We probably don't want to get into trouble with him.

Dre'Quan Priest

Another young man who’s already been involved in drug trafficking, Dre'Quan Priest wants to follow another path in the future: success in music! He created a partnership with Boobie Ike to emerge in Vice City with his talent.

Real Dimez

Real Dimez is a duo made up of two friends who are also looking for success in the music industry, and have also worked with Dre'Quan Priest. Both of them love rap and have a large presence on social media. It's easy to imagine that they’ll be the characters used to create a connection with the new generation.

Raul Bautista

Finally, Raul Bautista is an experienced bank robber looking for new talent, it's almost certain that we'll make some kind of contract with him in the middle of the campaign. The character also stands out for taking a lot of risks in his plans in order to increase the rewards.

Vice City

The main city of GTA VI, where much of the story will take place. In Vice City, everything’s available: we can enjoy beautiful beaches during the day, since it’s the cruise ship capital of the world, and also enjoy an intense night in clubs and bars. However, mischief and crime are also there.

Leonida Keys

Leonida Keys is a tropical archipelago where you can have a more peaceful, less pretentious experience and just enjoy the region’s beautiful seas.

Grassrivers

In part of the gameplay you’ll be able to enter this swamp region, populated with deadly and dangerous animals. One of the images on the website shows police forces in the area, which may indicate that some crime’s happening nearby.

Port Gellhorn

Port Gellhorn is the classic rural town, the forgotten coastline of Leonida, home to motels and cheap drinks. With few locals or tourists, you can get together in small gatherings around a campfire.

Ambrosia

It appears to be an area dominated by a biker gang. Ambrosia's economy is driven by industries, mainly the Allied Crystal sugar refinery. We probably won't have any great moments of fun over there, but facing off against this gang can be an interesting challenge.

Mount Kalaga

Here we’ll get to see a traditional experience far away from the big cities. Hunting, fishing and hiking are part of everyday life in Mount Kalaga, which also offers a less technological experience. Since it’s a more remote land, it doesn’t face many interference and inspections from the government.

Rockstar has given us a lot of information since its last trailer, and it’s no wonder that a large part of the community is extremely eager to try out GTA VI as soon as possible, the game seems to have an incredible story and graphics while keeping the successful essence of the previous title.
