Grand Theft Auto VI is Rockstar Games’ forthcoming entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, set in the fictional U.S. state of Leonida. Rockstar’s official materials identify Vice City as a major location, returning the series to the Florida based setting used in 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The game was formally revealed on December 4, 2023, when Rockstar released its first trailer after an unauthorized early upload led the company to publish it ahead of schedule. That trailer introduced Leonida through beaches, highways, nightlife, wetlands, social media clips, and prison scene, while showing Lucia with her partner, Jason. Rockstar’s official second trailer and its character page name Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. The studio’s published synopsis says they have always known “the deck is stacked against them.” An easy score goes wrong, placing them on “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America” amid a criminal conspiracy spanning Leonida. The stated stakes are explicit: they must rely on one another if they are to escape alive. Jason’s official biography says he grew up around grifters and crooks, served in the Army to leave his troubled youth behind, and later worked for local drug runners in the Keys. Lucia’s official profile says her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. It also says life has been hitting her since her family moved to Liberty City, and that fighting for her family put her in Leonida Penitentiary. Luck got her out, according to Rockstar, but Lucia now intends to make only smart moves. Her ambition is the good life her mother dreamed of during their Liberty City years, and she is prepared to pursue a plan at any cost. Trailer footage places the pair amid robberies and pursuits, but Rockstar has not published a plot. Rockstar currently lists Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a release date of May 26, 2026. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, announced the date change in May 2025; the game had previously been targeted for fall 2025. Rockstar’s official Leonida page also highlights locations beyond Vice City: the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Its named supporting cast includes Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, Dre’Quan Priest, Real Dimez, Raul Bautista, and Brian Heder. These details establish a statewide setting extending beyond Vice City itself in the official presentation to date.
