Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is a narrative adventure game developed and published by DON'T NOD, the studio behind Life Is Strange and Tell Me Why. Its story is set in Velvet Cove, Michigan, and moves between two periods: the summer of 1995 and the year 2022. The central character is Swann, a teenager in 1995 who spends an important summer with three other girls: Nora, Autumn, and Kat. Their friendship develops during a period of exploration, personal discovery, and experiences that permanently affect their lives.
Swann records the summer with her video camera, making footage an important part of the game's identity and storytelling. Players can choose what to film, investigate locations, and interact with the other characters through conversations and activities. The camera is not simply a decorative prop: it reflects Swann's perspective and preserves memories that connect the earlier timeline with the events of the present day. The game also gives players opportunities to shape relationships and decide how the group responds to significant moments.
In 2022, the former friends reunite after twenty-seven years apart. The reason for their separation and the events surrounding the final summer are central mysteries. The game's narrative gradually reveals how the girls' memories differ from one another and why their past still carries emotional weight. A supernatural element is also connected to the story, but the game presents it alongside an intimate account of friendship, identity, regret, and unresolved trauma rather than as a conventional action-horror adventure.
The title is divided into two episodes. The first episode, Bloom, was released on February 18, 2025, while the second episode, Rage, followed on April 15, 2025. The complete experience is available for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. DON'T NOD designed the game as a single-player experience focused on dialogue, exploration, observation, and player choice.
Its 1990s setting is expressed through period details such as cassette culture, consumer video technology, clothing, and music, while the 2022 sections show the same characters as adults dealing with the consequences of what happened. By placing both timelines in direct conversation, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage makes the act of remembering part of its gameplay and structure. The result is a specific story about four women, one vanished summer, and a friendship that never fully escaped Velvet Cove.
