War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a free-to-play tactical role-playing game for iOS and Android, published by Square Enix and developed with gumi Inc. It launched in Japan on November 14, 2019, followed by a worldwide release on March 25, 2020. The game shares its wider universe with Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, but tells a separate story on the continent of Ardra, where rival kingdoms pursue the power connected to crystals and summoned warriors called visions.

The opening narrative focuses on the kingdom of Leonis, whose ruler is King Oelde Leonis. His sons, Mont and Sterne, become central figures in the conflict, while Princess Macherie Hourne develops a close connection with Mont. Leonis holds the Ring of Light, one of several rings associated with crystals, making the kingdom a valuable target as war spreads across Ardra. Sterne’s resentment toward his position and his family becomes a major source of internal tragedy, alongside the military struggle among kingdoms.

Battles use grid-based maps with elevation, movement ranges, turn order, facing, elemental affinities, jobs, abilities, and equipment. Players assemble teams of units, each with distinctive jobs and skills, and can improve them through systems involving limit bursts, equipment, espers, vision cards, and job levels. Classic Final Fantasy job names such as White Mage, Black Mage, Dragoon, Samurai, and Knight are used throughout the roster. The game also featured multiplayer matches, raids, arena battles, guilds, and Guild Battle, a competitive mode involving player guilds.

Visions include original characters from Ardra as well as visitors from Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and other Final Fantasy titles. Collaboration events brought characters and material from Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XV, and Final Fantasy XVI. The Final Fantasy Tactics collaboration was particularly fitting because both titles emphasize tactical, turn-based combat on terrain-based grids.

The main scenario was released in chapters and parts, with cinematic sequences accompanying the battles. Its music was composed by Noriyasu Agematsu, while its presentation combined 3D battle models with illustrated character artwork. As a live-service title, it regularly added story material, units, events, and collaborations. Square Enix ended service for the Japanese version on May 15, 2024, and for the global version on May 29, 2024.
